At last week's California Boating Congress, NMMA's Senior Director of Public Policy and California State Policy Lead Clayton Crabtree thanked Rep. John Garamendi (D-CA) for his continued leadership on abandoned and derelict vessels. Rep. Garamendi is a key member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and a long-time champion of industry issues. His remarks highlighted his efforts at the federal level to address abandoned and derelict vessels as well as aquatic invasive species, both of which are top priorities for the industry in California. During the 59th Annual General Meeting of International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA), NMMA President and CEO Frank Hugelmeyer was elected the incoming ICOMIA Board President for a two-year term. Hugelmeyer brings more than 25 years of leadership experience in the outdoor recreation industry, with a proven track record in advancing public policy, economic growth, and sustainability initiatives. As ICOMIA Board President, Hugelmeyer will collaborate with industry leaders worldwide to promote economic prosperity, innovation, and outdoor enjoyment across the global marine sector. Most recently, Hugelmeyer partnered with outgoing ICOMIA Board President Darren Vaux and CEO Joe Lynch to launch ICOMIA’s global Propelling Our Future initiative, establishing a forward-looking framework for innovation and sustainability across international recreational marine markets.
